This isn't just my story. It's the story of countless others whose wellbeing and survival hinge upon these essential services. The SNAP benefits are not a luxury; they are a lifeline for millions of Americans. According to the USDA, over 42 million Americans rely on these benefits, and during a shutdown, their already precarious circumstances become dire. Federal interruptions in services like SNAP not only compromise daily nutrition but also destabilize entire communities, pushing vulnerable individuals like myself into deeper poverty.
