While I listened to many genres in EDMâ€¦ the TOP ones I loved were 1.) Goa (Goa Trance which started on the beaches of Goa, India), 2.) PsyTrance, 3.) Progressive Tribal House (VERY Trance-like), and the others were 4.) Psybient, Ambient, Downtempo. In the late 80s I went to a lot of clubs and was into Deep House and Acid House (artists like Capella, West Bam {â€œAnd Partyâ€ / â€œThe Roof Is On Fireâ€), Cathy Dennis, etc. I took about 9 years off (1989-1998) before I re-entered the EDM scene. I was first given the â€œReturn to the Source: The Chakra Journeyâ€ 2 CD set, and was into Trance. I immediately got into PsyTrance and Goa. I would go out to 2-day events and sweat - changing into 10 outfits over 2 days and being exhausted for 2 weeks. Goa and PsyTrance were like, at times, BETTER than sex or any orgasm than any human being could ever imagine. It was my â€œdrug of choiceâ€â€¦ me purifying the dance grounds (outdoors) and then â€œkicking up the dustâ€ while many of us â€œhandful of experienced dancersâ€ were being admired by the participants. It was that release - of endorphinsâ€¦ of energy - of depression, hurt, anger, happiness, euphoria, â€œblissâ€â€¦ and with the fornications of countless encounters with the female species, and the murder of 6 Ravers (1 of them being a friend) on Capitol Hill in Seattle, and 5-7+ more friends who committed suicide (my friend Manx {Dave Clark} was an Psybient DJ, and Erik - aka Muschi, was a brother friend DJ that played Goa, PsyTrance and Psybient)â€¦ I have so much hurt in all the giving Iâ€™ve done, and very little respect and understanding by those in the scene- I can never return to the scene. I can barely even listen to any Electronicaâ€¦ but Ambient and Psybient is possible. Goa and PsyTrance was ADDICTING to me. I love the beats - being the drummer / artist I am. It was â€œsexâ€ to me. And- yeah - not to boast or sound arrogant or exalting myselfâ€¦ I kicked butt dancing. My dancing style was something like on the lines of â€œFreestyle, Forest, Desert, Spiritual, Tai-Chi like, Trance Dancingâ€. Okâ€¦ I need to write a book on my journeys and/or have a major interview with someone. Ha Ha. But, I canâ€™t return to the scene. I CANNOT love U2 nor Goa, nor PsyTrance, nor anything more than God - our Heavenly Father and His Son- Jesus the Christ. I canâ€™t go down that road again. I can only live it from afar and not repeat that journey.
