SCOTUS got the mail-in ballot ruling wrong.
In a 5-4 ruling, the Court upheld a Mississippi law allowing mail-in ballots to be counted up to five days after Election Day — as long as they’re postmarked on time.
This is a defeat for clean, secure elections. Ballots arriving days later open the door to delays, disputes, and lost trust in results. Election Day should mean Election Day. States need tighter safeguards, not more grace periods that invite problems.
