Say his name? "Kevin R. Hall Jr.". He was murdered in Troy NY a few days ago. Oh, you will never hear his name. No protesting. Why? Because Kevin was stabbed to death by a NYS inmate named Juan Rivera who was just released from NYS prison a year early. Why? Because Gov. Hochul just set a bunch of inmates free early rather than bring officers back to work. Juan was one of them. It is OK, our society say inmates are good now. Prison guards are the bad ones. They are freeing a great number over the next few months early too. Enjoy these wonderful people as they come say "hiya neighbor"! I can not wait to leave NY. A proud graduate of Troy High School, Kevin became a Union Roofer with Local 241 for several years before working his way into the solar industry with Solar City and NRG. Kevin moved to Averill Park after meeting Nancy Bellard in 2004, where they raised a beautiful family. A proud father to Kevin Michael and Nina Lynne Hall. Kevin had a radiant spirit, a generous heart and a bold sense of humor. Fun loving with a genuine gift of making people laugh. Kevin leaves behind loving family and friends to join his loving mother (and best friend) in Eternal Rest. Kevin R. Hall Jr., a 47-year-old resident of Troy, New York, was fatally stabbed on April 21, 2025, at a residence on 373 3rd Street in South Troy. The suspect, Juan S. Rivera, a 26-year-old Troy man, was arrested approximately nine hours later at a hotel in Latham, New York, and charged with second-degree murder. According to the Troy Police Department, Rivera and Hall were acquaintances who got into a dispute over property, which escalated into a physical confrontation, resulting in Rivera stabbing Hall. Hall was found with stab wounds and pronounced dead at a local hospital. Rivera had been released from Wende Correctional Facility on March 27, 2025, under post-release supervision by the New York State Division of Parole, after serving time for a second-degree assault conviction from 2021. He was arraigned in Troy City Court and remanded to Rensselaer County Jail. Posts on X reflect public sentiment, noting the lack of widespread attention to Hall’s death compared to other cases, with some attributing this to the circumstances of the crime or the early release of Rivera.
