He’s not being held against his will—he’s choosing to stay locked up by fighting his deportation instead of accepting it. He’s basically detaining himself at this point. If he misses the birth of his son, which is right around the corner, he’s got no one to blame but himself. He’s got two choices: let the government go ahead with the deportation and be there for his wife and newborn outside the U.S.—or stay behind bars while dragging this out through appeals to the Board of Immigration Appeals and then the Fifth Circuit over legal technicalities. Time to make a call, Mahmoud. What matters more—being a loud, anti-American, antisemitic activist desperate to stay in a country that’s already said “no thanks”… or being there when your kid is born?
