    Do not confuse envy with jealousy. Envy is the desire to take possession of something that isn't yours, or to deprive someone else of what is rightfully theirs. Marx spoke of Class Envy, & Freud spoke of Penis Envy. Neither spoke or wrote about Class or Penis Jealousy.

    Jealousy is the fear of losing that which is rightfully yours. The Bible tells us that God is jealous, because we belong to God, & God is fearful of losing us. The Bible also tells us that the Devil is envious. The Devil desires to steal us from God; to deprive God of what is rightfully His.

    The Bible uses the term covetousness, which is the same thing as envy. The 9th & 10th Commandments tell us not to covet, that is not to be envious. And envy, not jealousy, is 1 of the 7 Deadly Sins. The more modern day term for envy or envious is Social Justice.
