Senator Pocahontas wanted RFKjr to guarantee that while he was Secretary, that he would not accept any money or payments from the law firm that he’s under contract with that is suing pharmaceutical companies. She said it wouldn’t be right for him to be able to make money from an industry that he had direct regulatory control over. The irony is completely lost on her that as a senator, and in fact all members of Congress, have regulatory power over all of the industries that they are invested in through the stock market. I don’t hear her calling for members of Congress to have to diverse from their stock portfolio and not take any money from any of them while they’re in Congress. Of course, if that was the case, we would be able to eliminate career politicians because we know that their greed and love of money is much greater than their will to serve as a member of Congress. Therefore, if they couldn’t do both many would never run for Congress and those who did would probably only serve one or two terms, and then go back to making money.
