    The national average price of eggs in 2018 was $1.75 a dozen. This comes to $2.50 when corrected for inflation. The average price of eggs in 2022 was $2.85 a dozen. And in 2024, it was $4.15 a dozen. Today, in California eggs can cost as much as $8 a dozen. Or in New York, it's only $6 a dozen.
