What To Believe I am 75 years old. I come from the "when a teacher, great orator, great writer, authority figure, or government edict says it, I believe it" generation. And I'm over it. Looking back on the things that I assumed were true, about life, about nutrition, about war, about government, about so many and varied things ... I think of those times and feel like a damned fool. There is one good thing about the Internet and the coming of artificial intelligence: we now know that we can be fooled about almost anything, we now know that much of what we believed in was someone else's agenda, we now know that the idea of trust is for foolish, lazy men who preferred to not think for themselves. We also know that a fact checker is just another liar. We know that Studies, no matter how prestigious they may seem, may never reveal truly useful information. We now know that science has lost its way. We now know that politicians are excellent orators in search of power. We know that the government-supported educational system is intentionally creating generations of ignorant, fearful young people. We now know that there is no end to how much money the politicians will print and spend in order to stay in power, no matter the effect on the economy or the families of the country. And hopefully, those of us who rely on God for comfort and direction, have come to realize His lack of interest in our politics or the world that He created, leaving it to the free will of His creations to build or destroy this wonderful thing that He made for us. At long last, we look around ourselves at the world and all of its evil, and wonder how it got this way, and wonder can the evil be overcome, or will the evil overcome us? As individuals, each of us has an imperceptible effect on the workings of the world, making us wonder if there's any point in trying to make things right. Powerful forces beyond our control, forces that are seemingly unfathomable, thwart us at every turn. Even those who may believe some of the things that we believe, find fault in our less than perfectness, and concentrate on that -- our differences -- rather than seeking a path toward a process where we can work together for a better world. It seems hopeless. But I believe it is not hopeless. Although I have made a few changes to this quote in later posts, here is the original version: "Progress is possible when faith in the future is strong enough to bear the burden of doubt." A number of times I have also posted, "The battle for liberty is never finally won ... but it can be lost ... if enough people stop fighting." And that's really what we're talking about: the battle for liberty. Those seemingly unfathomable and powerful forces are fearful of human liberty, individual responsibility, capitalism's prosperity, a world at peace. Those things threaten the World Order they have envisioned, threaten them and their otherwise untouchable power. They want us at each other's throats, dependent upon tyrannical governments to protect us from ourselves. They want to corrupt our moral fiber, our children's psyches, our mental toughness, our desire to live the lives of free men. Is progress possible? Do we have faith in the future? Is that faith strong enough to bear the burden of doubt? Yes. You may have overlooked this, but there are more actively patriotic Americans now than there have been in decades. And you can thank the Internet for that. For all it's flaws, for all its attempts at the pornification of society, one thing has been revealed: you are not the only person who loves your country. You are not the only person who believes in the ideals of liberty, prosperity, and peace. You are not alone. And your numbers are growing. If you need something to believe in, believe in that. "If enough people stop fighting" does not seem to be an issue right now. More people, more patriotic Americans are rising up to the challenges we all face. There are those who will silence us, if they can. But that silence is temporary, and ineffective. Because we already know ... we are not alone. Want something to believe? Believe what you already know: millions of patriotic Americans share in this effort to save our country. Believe that your children will be the beneficiaries of your hard work, your gallantry, your persistence, your sacrifice. Believe that the future is yours to create. And though the effort will be fraught with danger, and unexpected setbacks, your efforts and the efforts of your fellow patriots can create a future where your children will be happy and healthy. Want something to believe? Believe in a future where trust in your fellow human beings is reasonable, where reason rules the day, where liberty, prosperity, and peace are no longer just a hoped-for outcome, where you can look back and feel proud of what you've done ... to save your country. #TrumpVance2024 #MAGA #PatriotsUnite
