The whole point of the Bill of Rights was to assure reluctant states like New York and Virginia that this new federal government being created would only ever have the very "few," "narrowly defined" powers enumerated in the Constitution... ...so that all the power could be kept at the state and local level, where the individual has maximum control (the exact opposite of what we now have). Such a stunningly fundamental ignorance of basic civics and constitutional illiteracy is war on the American people when allowed to exist at the Supreme Court.
