    CO2 was 0.02% of the Earth's atmosphere ~175 years ago. And today CO2 is 0.04% of the Earth's atmosphere. One way of looking at it is to say that the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere has doubled. Another way is to say that it has increased by 0.02%.
