WJCharliee
Yes, ROBERTE1! My grandfather from Wisconsin and I and my dad went fishing as a family whenever he visited us [cc: Maranatha_Mark Afttayarleen GTO55 Meadow2003 ]

Chef's choice, right?!? LOL! Mom would cook breakfast, lunch and supper and not ask anyone their opinion of what was on the menu! You either ate it or not. Now she did try to make things she thought we'd like, but if you were the odd man out, you could make a sandwich if you didn't like what she... View More

Maranatha_Mark and I bet you sat at the table as a family.not mom and dad in their Recliners & TV trays and the kids on the couch playing video games.

Maranatha_Mark
ROBERTE1When I was in my preteen years, we did. However, by the time I was in my teens in the Late 70's we did eat in front of the TV. We bought some of those FANCY, folding TV trays so we could eat and watch TV! But that really didn't happen until I was 13 or 14 years old. Before that we ate o... View More

WJCharliee Thankfully, my mom was a good cook as we my grandmother on my dad's side of the family, but my grandmother on my mom's side, was a O.K. Cook, nothing to write home about. Most of what mom made was pretty darn good, and she tried to cook what she knew we'd eat. That said, we hunted, fis... View More

At my family dinner table it was 6:00, and you better be there. Take all you want, but eat all you take. My mom would have to dish up my three sisters plates, because they would only take two pea's, a spoon full of mash potatoes etc. etc. You couldn't leave the table, until your plate was empty. Las... ROBERTE1
What is it with peas kid don’t like peas.

WJCharliee
Not me ROBERTE1! I love Peas... It is my favorite! That is the only canned green vegetable I get anymore! All the rest I get raw in the produce section... It is strange that many kids are weird in that way! [cc: Meadow2003 GTO55 Maranatha_Mark Afttayarleen ]

Maranatha_Mark
WJCharliee I loved green peas and Black-eyed Peas as well! Beets and raw tomatoes were the bane of my existence! LOL! That said, we grew about 100 to 300 hills of tomatoes each year, in our Truck Patch Gardens, and while I hated raw tomatoes, I loved tomato sauce & ketchup!

WJCharliee
Maranatha_Mark Yes, I love all vegetables, too. Somethings I eat a tomato like an apple... saves me time cooking! [ GTO55 Meadow2003 Afttayarleen ROBERTE1 ]

Maranatha_Mark
WJCharliee I've only in the last 10 years been able to have a sliced tomato on my sandwiches or tacos, but I still can't just pick up a tomato and eat it like an apple! LOL! I learned to hate fish I had all kinds of ways to get rid of it.putting it in a napkin & stuffing it down my pants and flushing it down the toilet when I was caught doing that I would feed it to the dogs under the table until mom would smell their breath.

WJCharliee
Yes, that is funny story ROBERTE1! When I was a kid, I HATED SEAFOOD! My father would do everything to make me eat it... The only way he got me to eat ANY SEAFOOD was to take me to Long John Silvers Restaurant! When I grew older and after learning about all the health benefits from Modern Scienc... View More

ROBERTE1That's too funny, because we did the same thing, (kind-of) my sisters would pass their food down the line to me, i would hide it in the planter box i sat next to, then retrieve it when the coast was clear. Nine kids, 5 boys, and 4 girls.

ROBERTE1 living 2 doors away from the bay we'd eat a lot of seafood...my dad caught a squid one day. He gave it to my mom to cook. She put it in her spaghetti sauce. WJCharliee hHehehehe. The only seafood I eat now is scallops, haddock or cod.
I've eaten pretty much everything else, except squid. When you grow up eating it day after day , you get sick of it.

Maranatha_Mark
WJCharliee Most of those are aquarium fish. The trigger and group are about the only ones on that chart of fish, that you can eat.

Maranatha_Mark
Meadow2003 We ate a lot of junk as kids. But potted meat and crackers, Vienna Sausages, or peanuts and an RC Cola or 6 oz Coke were drank at time as well. That said, we always had Sweet Iced Tea made up!

My favorite fish on this chart is Grouper! Trigger Fish, though not on the chart is really good too. Flounder is another one I like a lot! Snapper is good, but you got to know how to eat it... avoid the dark meat, unless you like strong fishy taste! Mahi-Mahi is really good too.

Thanks for the info Maranatha_Mark! Your Fish Chart would make a PERFECT POSTER! [ cc: Meadow2003 GTO55 ROBERTE1 Afttayarleen ]

Brings back so many memories! To this day, I can still eat most left-overs straight out of the Fridge without warming them up. WJCharliee
Yep so with me Meadow2003 Maranatha_Mark ! I cook my pizza and then put it in the refrig until tommorrow to eat it! The Tomatos release a hormone that not only tastes good, but is more nutritious... one of the few foods that do that after being cooked!!! [ GTO55 ROBERTE1 Afttayarleen ]

Meadow2003
On my dad's way home from work on Fridays, he'd stop at McDonald's and get 2 dozen hamburgers for our supper. Yup back then burgers were 10cents each on Friday. My mom wouldn't have to cook.

WJCharliee I wonder how much a beer was.

Maranatha_Mark
WJCharliee Those prices are actually a little before my time. Those are prices from the 50's and possibly the very early 60's. And while I was born in 63', I really wasn't worried about the prices of burgers back then! LOL!

WJCharliee

Mickey D's was good, but I truly loved Burger Chef Restaurants we had around here! That said, mom's and granny's hamburgers were really, way better than any chain restaurant's burger. We ate most of them on plain white bread, and burger buns were for special occasions! LOL!
