    HighHeels‌ Don't know for sure, but from experience, marrying doesn't get you into this country. At least it didn't 20 years ago.

    ‌I married a Canadian and he still had to go through the legal process before he could get status. Marriage didn't count. Also knew of another couple, one from Canada and the other the US and they thought marriage was enough. The shipped the Canadian back and refused her re-entry.

    I think like back in the 70's it was accepted and not sure when it changed, but my ordeal was late 90's.

    I thought she married her brother so that he could benefit from a college education since he was not a US citizen. At the time did we not have immigration laws that allowed family members in? Brothers aren't entitled to the same benefits as spouses right?
