But I will be honest with you. “#National #Disability #Employment #Awareness #Month” is simply a designated window of time where the #NJ #DVR and the NJ #Commission for the #Blind are eligible to apply for state and federal subsidies. #New #Jersey is one of 30 states that do this. NJ is also one of those states that does not honor skilled workers if they blind or visually impaired. The #Union #County #Board #of #County #Commissioners and the #Department of #Human #Services publicize “National Disability Employment Awareness Month”. By law, #The #American #Job #Center hosts an annual #Inclusive #Job #and #Resource #Fairs to fulfil requirements for those subsidies for each county in NJ for consumers with #disabilities #and #specials #needs who are 18 years of age and older. However, I am not eligible for DVR services and am no longer registered with the NJ Commission for the Blind anymore. For this reason, this upcoming event at the #Warnaco #Sports #Center. For good measure, I call the number to verify this as I have done in the past and nothing has changed. As far as transportation, #Access #Link and #Union #County #paratransit won’t transport take me anyway and no bus is near the site I am getting too old to do these three mile hikes every time. These #programs are more the #benefit of the people running them than they are for the #consumers attending, as I’ve found out many times in the past. The American Job Center has time and time again told me that there do not offer accommodations for people who are #blind or #visually #impaired, but will help me apply for #unemployment #benefits, which I am not interested in.
