    It has been said by some that the post-Christian age began in earnest with the end of the 1st World War in 1918. Communism & Fascism & Secularism vied to replace Christianity in Western culture.

    Fascism (ultra-nationalism) was defeated during the 2nd World War. But what we are faced with now is a competition between Communism & Secularism. In a sense, we are faced with a choice between Orwell's 1984 & Huxley's Brave New World.

    Communism is totalitarian in the same manner as Secularism is hedonistic. However, it may not be an either or situation. It could be a combination of carrots & sticks.
