My name is James Harrison and I am the Director of www.naturalfamilystrong.com and am writing to you because we could really use your help in promoting a very important event. We are currently proposing and talking with local communities, churches, businesses, organizations, city council, township trustees about initiating a "Natural Family Month" = the time period from Mothers Day in May thru Father's Day in June. I will list a few of the details in a moment, but let me assure you from just listening to you yesterday there is nothing that you would disagree with in our plan. I would also note that what we are proposing is a positive approach to the insanity that we are experiencing daily in America especially when it comes to our children. Before you go any further please go to our website and read our pledge which I believe to be precisely in line with what you voiced yesterday. If you don't agree with our pledge, stop reading here and have a good day. If you do, then here are a few brief details and we have several churches here in Ohio that have already signed up for the event. NATURAL FAMILY MONTH CELEBRATION: This event in a local community would start on Mother's Day with Mother’s week, then the next week would honor the blessings of Children followed by Grandparents’ week, next would be Extended Family week and then a Father’s day week ending on Father's Day. My Suggestion: Each week a church could talk about mothers, fathers, children, etc from a Biblical Standpoint. NOTE: The Bible does mention a lot about family, mothers, fathers, children, and extended families. It’s really not all that complicated as The Family was the First Institution that was created for the Benefit of Mankind - a foundation if you will. Amen! The sermons do not have to be totally about the subject for the week. A sermon could start off ("kickoff") with a reminder of that week's family member (s), mention a few related bible verses followed by the sermon for that weekend. The week's theme could also be mentioned after the sermon as well. Maybe you like the idea of spending the entire 5 weeks on the family subject . . . go for it with our blessings. Where there is unity . . . In conjunction with the church, businesses, and other community organizations could have special events or discounts, etc for the particular family member's week. Hopefully city councils / county officials would make the celebration official in addition to the churches. We are starting at the grassroots level and moving upward. As part of this celebration there can be T-shirts (design suggestion attached) and if the cities/ townships/churches are willing, they could display banners (see attached) signifying the month plus long celebration. Hey, February is Black History Month right and isn't March Women's History Month? And look at the list of other month-long celebrations [ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_month-long_observances ]. So what is more important than the family and why not remind folks of this foundation of all society? It is said that "strong families make strong people". Natural Family Month would also be an excellent reminder that "as goes the Family, so goes the Church and as goes the Church, so goes the Nation". That's just a nutshell of what we propose Dr. Piper and I would not just do one more thing which we talk about continually. None of this works if the father's are not in the home and doing their job as the family leaders and the church does not follow through and assist in that endeavor.
