Dr. Rand Paul Introduces COVID-19 Vaccination Non-Discrimination Act There’s no reason that medical facilities should deny care to people based on their COVID-19 vaccination status, and there’s certainly no reason for institutions that do so to receive any federal funding. Last Tuesday, I introduced the COVID-19 Vaccination Non-Discrimination Act to ensure that federal taxpayer dollars are not used to support health care facilities that deny care to patients based on their COVID-19 vaccination status. Image The COVID-19 Vaccination Non-Discrimination Act will protect the rights of vulnerable patients to make their own health care choices and ensure that federal taxpayer dollars do not support facilities that turn away patients based on their COVID-19 vaccination status. Dr. Rand Paul Introduces Legislation to Enact Congressional Transparency Too often in Congress, legislation is pushed through without hearings, amendments, or debate. I firmly believe the American people have a right to be part of the legislative process. ImageRecently, I reintroduced the Write the Laws Act, the One Subject at a Time Act, the Read the Bills Act, and a resolution to change Senate rules to provide sufficient time for legislation to be read before being considered by the U.S. Senate. Each individual piece of legislation would restore transparency in government and balance within the constitutional separation of powers. My bills will allow citizens sufficient time to read legislation and give input to members of Congress as it considers policies that impact all Americans’ lives. I will continue to stand by my pledge to increase transparency and accessibility in the U.S. Senate. You can learn more about my bills HERE. Dr. Rand Paul Joins Effort to Formally End Gulf and Iraq Wars Endless war weakens our national security and robs future generations through skyrocketing debt. For years I’ve led the fight to return war making powers back to Congress where they belong, and I’m proud to have continued those efforts by recently joining a bipartisan group of Senators in reintroducing legislation that would repeal the 1991 and 2002 Authorizations for Use of Military Force (AUMFs), formally end the Gulf and Iraq wars. The 1991 and 2002 AUMFs—which passed 32 and 20 years ago, respectively—authorized the use of force for the Gulf and Iraq wars, but Congress has failed to repeal these AUMFs to prevent potential misuse by future presidents. It’s long past time that we respect the balance of power and reassert Congress’ voice by forcing legislators to specifically approve or disapprove of the direction of our foreign policy
