"The Western policy aimed at total containment of Russia is extremely dangerous and carries the risk of a direct armed clash between the nuclear powers," Sergey Lavrov told news agency TASS. In his words, "there are irresponsible speculations in the West that Russia is about to use nuclear weapons against Ukraine" are unceasingly unfolding in the West, he said. "We are talking about something completely different: the West's policy of total containment of our country is extremely dangerous. "It carries risks of a slide towards a direct armed clash of nuclear powers," the Russian foreign minister stressed. He added that Moscow reiterates time and again that there can be no winners in a nuclear war "and it should never be unleashed."
