29 years ago yesterday, a pack of neo-Nazis attacked a nightclub in Germany. The Nazis had made a big production of it - about forty or fifty masked thugs, guns loaded with tracer ammo, and sticks to break windows and skulls alike. The "Deutsch Liga für Volk und Heimat" even sent a videographer along to document their attack.
During the attack, they fractured Matthias Lüders's skull, causing injuries that would kill him a few days later.
Following up to see what DLVH was up to after Matthias's murder led us to a truly weird (and, thankfully, nonlethal) crime in 2018. DLVH, like many German Nazi organizations, was short-lived. It morphed into a neo-Nazi newsletter/magazine; this bumbled around for several years before being absorbed into a new vaguely Nazi news organ.
The second news outlet's managing editor, a Nazi activist, died of a heart attack in Moscow... where he was hiding out after he had gotten caught, working in a German #AfD MP(congressman)'s office, hiring Polish Fascist gangsters to commit a false flag attack on a Hungarian cultural center in Ukraine. They had intended to frame Ukrainian Nazis for the attack. The ultimate objective? To help Vladimir Putin destabilize Ukraine.
