The US Navy confirmed 7 sailors had suffered injuries after an F-35 fighter jet crash landing on the deck of a South China Sea-based aircraft carrier in which the pilot ejected into the water.
The statement claimed it was still unknown what had caused the “landing mishap” on the USS Carl Venison during a “routine training exercise”, but it would be investigated.
Three sailors were sent to Manila for medical treatment with the other four treated on board.
