When Jesus faced the Pharisees and scribes he was supposedly going against the most conservative religious and followers of God, however when he discovered them he called them hypocrites:Woe to you, hypocritical scribes and Pharisees, because you neither enter the kingdom of heaven nor allow anyone to enter! Woe to you, hypocritical scribes and Pharisees, who on the one hand make very long prayers in the streets and on the other rob widows' houses! Hypocrites! Woe to you, hypocrites, because you travel the world in search of converts, and once you find them, you make them twice as children of hell as yourselves. Blind guides, woe to you, because they say that it does not matter that he swears in vain by the temple of God, but if someone swears in vain by the gold of the temple, they condemn him. Foolish blind! What is more important, the gold or the temple that sanctifies the gold? And they say that you can swear in vain by the altar, but if you swear in vain by what is on the altar, they condemn it. Blind! What is more important, the offering that is put on the altar or the altar that sanctifies the offering? He who swears by the altar is also swearing by what is on it; and whoever swears by the temple is swearing by the temple and by God who dwells in it. And when he swears by heaven he is swearing by the throne of God and by God himself. Woe to you hypocritical Pharisees and scribes! Because they tithe to the last mint leaf in the garden and forget the most important thing, which is to do justice and have mercy and faith. Yes, you have to tithe, but you cannot put aside what is even more important. »Blind guides, who strain the mosquito and swallow the camel! Woe to you hypocritical scribes and Pharisees, because you carefully clean the outside of the glass and leave the inside full of theft and injustice. Blind Pharisees, clean the inside of the cup first, so that it is clean inside and out. Woe to you hypocritical scribes and Pharisees, for you are like whitewashed tombs: beautiful on the outside, but inside they are full of dead men's bones and rottenness! So are you too: on the outside you look holy, but under the guise of piety there is a heart stained with hypocrisy and sin.Matthew 23: 13-28
