Midterm Race begins! GO! Cartoon published 10/05/2026 But First, A Note from Ben: On a side note, I continue to suffer from shingles and nerve damage. I had a severe case break out on my head and face at the beginning of September and I was hospitalized for five days. The doctor said it was the worst case he’d ever seen. My left eye was a concern—many lose their sight from shingles in the eye. Thank God I can still see, but I have a heck of a time keeping it open. I still have pain and fatigue and the doctor said some people require a longer healing time and I guess that’s me. I decided to draw a cartoon anyway, and this one was drawn with one eye. I’d rather stay busy than lie in bed and suffer. A huge thank you to all who donated to keep our cartoon enterprise going. Tina drew many cartoons while I was incapacitated and I appreciate her, too.-BG And now back to the cartoon post: Ready, Set, Drag The starter pistol went off and the midterm race begins. Trump is back on the road because a midterm without Trump on the ballot is a parade that forgot the grand marshal. Alabama. Ohio. A red-state sprint and a promise that if you just show up, the elephant will remember how to run. He wins when his name is on the sign. When it is not, the base bas no enthusiasm. The other lane has a new jockey but a bigger ball and chain. Chuck Schumer spent years as the man who owned the calendar. The calendar shrugged. The donkey now has AOC as jockey, the smile turned up, the hat on straight, and a platform that still reads like a group project from a class that does not buy its own groceries. More government. More spending. More rules. Open borders. The bill, as always, addressed to “someone else.” SUPPORT BEN AND TINA’S ART NOW MAKE A DONATION That is not a scandal. That is the ball and chain. You can rename it equity. You can bedazzle it. The donkey still has to drag it past a voter who just paid for gas. Republicans are not floating either. They’ve got their own iron: prices. Trump can outwork a sleepy base. He cannot out-argue a receipt. If the only thing a voter remembers is the total at the pump, the gold chair does not get a vote. So here we are. One side campaigning like the Republic is at stake, it is. The other side campaigning like the free everything is reality, it isn’t. Uncle Sam already fired the pistol. This midterm is different, it is capitalism vs. communism. Choose wisely America because your life depends on it.
