Hey, Democrats!
Think the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact (NPVIC) only hurts Republicans? Think again.
Once it hits 270 electoral votes, the NPVIC forces every participating state to award all its electoral votes to whoever wins the national popular vote — regardless of what the voters in that state actually wanted. The attached image illustrates just this:
The voter clearly pressed Democrat on the screen… but the machine flips it to Republican. He’s screaming “NO!” because that is exactly what the compact does. A solidly blue state could be forced to hand every single electoral vote to a Republican president when the popular vote goes the other way and disenfranchises millions of Democrat voters.
It doesn’t matter what your state voted. Your electors get hijacked by voters in other states. This setup goes far beyond what Article II, Section 1 of the Constitution permits. It creates an interstate compact that empowers member states at the expense of everyone else based on out-of-state votes.
The framers deliberately rejected a pure national popular vote for this very reason — to protect state sovereignty and prevent dense urban centers from overriding the rest of the country. This isn’t “making every vote count.” It’s subverting the constitutional design.
Write your legislators to protest and reject the NPVIC.
