THE FACTS… California, what a shining beacon of democracy you are, where your esteemed leaders like Jerry Brown can just slap “Sanctuary State” status on the state like a bumper sticker on a Prius, without so much as a courtesy poll from the peasants—I mean, citizens—who foot the bill. Not only did Jerry Brown graciously bestow upon the people the Sanctuary State crown jewel back in the day—without bothering with trivialities like a public vote—but now they’ve got Gavin Newsom, the gel-haired guardian of the galaxy, doubling down on this taxpayer-funded fiesta for illegal immigrants like it’s his personal legacy project. Because who needs a vote when you’ve got enlightened elites deciding that taxpayer dollars should flow like wine at a Hollywood fundraiser to fund programs for illegal immigrants? Heaven forbid they let the actual taxpayers have a say; that might disrupt the grand illusion of “progress.” After all, nothing says “WE THE PEOPLE” quite like “we the bureaucrats who know better than you.” Cheers to more “inclusive” policies that include everyone except the voters. Keep shining, you progressive paradise; your disdain for ballots is positively revolutionary, and your contempt for voter input is truly inspirational!
