The Broader Impact of the American Revolution
The term "revolution" is used on purpose. It has a specific definition. "In political science, a revolution is a fundamental and relatively sudden change in political power and political organization which occurs when the population revolts against the government." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Revolution
How is there a "myth" in regards to a "relatively sudden change in political power...[and]organization" coming from the "population"?
The Revolution began in the Carolinas in 1765 with the War of Regulation. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Regulator_Movement
The colonists were unhappy with the way they were ruled. They liked the idea of the crown, but they didn't feel they were protected under the same laws (British common law) that people in Britain were.
1776 Colonies declare independence.
1778 France declares war on Britain and openly assists colonies with it military.
1779 Spain declares war on Britain.
France and Spain didn't declare war until they felt the colonies had a chance to break away it also allowed them to attack British ships and other colonies while Britain was involved in the America. France wanted various Caribbean islands, Dunkirk and access to India while Spain wanted Gibraltar, Pensacola and kick British out of its Central American colonies.
Heck, Spain and France teamed up and even tried to invade Britain itself in the "Armada of 1779", a call back to the "Spanish Armada"
(https://anchor.fm/historicaltimelines/episodes/The-Spanish-Armada-and-the-Last-Crusade-ee71gt) of 1588. It was a #epicfail.
But Spain wasn't really helping the US it was helping France. All of this came from the Treaty of Aranjuez where they spelled out their goals.

And lets not forget that while the war officially ended in 1783, it didn't really end until 1815 at the close of the War of 1812 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/War_of_1812 when the US got a national identity and Britain got the message the divorce was final and to stop calling and showing up at the house(The White House which they burned down!) unannounced.

‌ I have always believe he was somewhat soft spoken with a commanding presents, intelligent, and steadfast in his duty, He was a Mason so I expect he was honest, trustworthly, and streight forward in manner. But that's just me. I would have liked to have met him.

‌Yes I can see that, these were eloquent people and times, most of our Founding Fathers were well educated or self-taught. Take Jefferson for example he was a writer, a scientist, a businessman (a poor Businessman), plus many other endeavors. Washington was a smart cookie and the clo... View More
