🗽 A REAL WOMAN and PATRIOT (Not Kamala): 'My Work To Secure The Border' 😇 A CongressWoman who Cares!!! 👍 October 3, 2024 Dear Fellow American, Last week, I was briefed by US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) at the Toledo-Sandusky-Port Clinton, Ohio Border Station — a facility unique to our area and which I helped to establish as a senior member of the Appropriations Committee. The briefing called attention to the urgent need for comprehensive border security measures and underscored the critical role that America’s Northern border plays in national security. During briefings, I received at the Port Clinton CBP facility, it was clear that our dedicated border agents are doing everything they can with the resources they have. However, the recent release of new data is alarming — this fiscal year alone, 88% of land border terrorist screening encounters occurred at our Northern border. This is a national security issue that affects every American, and is especially significant to our Northwest Ohio communities. I cannot overemphasize the importance of bipartisan efforts led by Republican Senator James Lankford, which were unfortunately stalled due to political pressures. It's time to pass bipartisan border and immigration reforms like the bill negotiated in the Senate. We cannot allow self-serving political motives and one-upmanship to jeopardize our national security. Our Northern and Southern borders both require robust and balanced attention. The refusal by Speaker Johnson to allow Congress to vote on critical border security funding is unconscionable. We need to come together and work across the aisle. To truly secure our borders, we must ensure that both Northern and Southern operations are adequately funded in a bipartisan fashion. The safety of our nation hinges on our ability to protect all points of entry. Even as we do our part here with the impressive efforts of our regional CBP outpost, a comprehensive approach to safeguarding our borders and ensuring the well-being of all Americans is long overdue.
