In the Bible, Genesis 9:16 says that God made a covenant with Noah and all living creatures on Earth, promising to never again destroy the Earth with a flood. God sealed this promise with a rainbow in the sky, saying, "Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth".
