I drove my Ford Explorer around that track (with the gatekeeper as my passenger). Here is what I posted on February 12, 2013 (while working for NCFAST at the Wilkes County DSS office) - You may not believe this but today, at lunchtime, I drove my Ford Explorer on the racetrack at North Wilkesboro Speedway (North Wilkesboro, NC), the birthplace of NASCAR. The guy that is the gatekeeper was happy to let me in and he told me, "Let's go drive on the track". I said, "Really?" He said, "Sure, let's go." Wow, that was exciting. We drove 3 times around the track, which each lap measures five-eighths of a mile. It was the first time in my life that I've driven on a real race track.
