‌That was two weeks ago. It only lasted a couple days, before it melted away. (global warming, don't ya know) lol

‌It snows sometimes here near Dallas, but generally is gone the next day. Sometimes we get those cold freezing winter temps that hang. That's when all the pipes get frozen because back in the day, folks didn't know enough to bury them more than a foot down.

Snow is pretty light this year. (so far) We really got pounded last year. I like looking out the window at it, and running my snow thrower through it, that's kinda fun. But that's about it. I don't like driving in it, except when you want to slide around for fun. It's not fun when you can't sto... View More

‌I use to love to drive in it. I grew up with guys with muscle cars and we'd go to parking lots and just go crazy, and we'd drive around looking for folks stuck in the snow just so we could get them out. Of course those were my younger days. I do know how to drive in it, if I have to...but it d... View More

I know what you mean, about the idiots. It's completely amazing that someone could live in it, their whole lives, and not know how to drive in it. But their every where. 😨 😃

‌I believe that, but it's worse in Tx because it's not common here. I grew up in NY.

‌same here growing up with muscle cars and doing donuts in an empty parking lot. Now a days you'd get arrested..

‌ They gotta catch you first...lol. Honestly, I don't think the cars of today could handle that kind of fun.

I grew up in Southern California, when it was not only nice, but it was a cool place to be. 😎 Not so much any more though. I'm glad to be out of there. But honestly Washington State really isn't much better. (politics wise)

‌ Reminds me, when I first moved to Washington. I found a parking lot to do donuts in. So I did on several occasions. After the spring melt, I discovered two planter boxes with cement curbs in that parking lot. I credit, and thank my Guardian Angel, for the fact I never hit one. I still d... View More

‌Fullerton, it's 28 miles south of L.A. About a 30 minute drive to the beach. ⛱️ (a little longer if you're hitching) Less than two hours to the mountains, or the desert. 🏜 It was a pretty happening place to be.

‌That's one place I haven't been. Spent a lot of time on the stretch of beach from Santa Monica to Marina Del Ray(which was my fav. spot). It use to be beautiful there years ago, but it's all going down hill fast.

Had that one night. Then it rained. This is SE WA not the westside where you get web feet from all the rain.

I went down there this October, (first time in over 15 yrs) and you're right, it's pretty sad. (in fact it's pathetic) The beach city's are doing their best, to keep the homeless out. But it's a losing battle. Filth, and trash everywhere. But you can blame the Politician's for that. Oh well, it's Ca... View More

‌I know when I use to go out and stay with my Son and the family, I would go down there for hours in the late mornings/early afternoons. It was always clean and hardly anyone around. Use to be beautiful. I haven't been since probably 2016, but I've seen through newscast and pictures what it's c... View More

I'm not looking to make a return trip, any time soon. Maybe after they depopulate the state, and return to a common sense political environment. Who knows? It could happen. (but I'm not gonna hold my breath)

‌I hear you. I feel the same, even though it means not seeing my Son & family. I do get to watch them on their Nestcam feed, but Google bought them out and is going to discontinue service to Nestcam April 7th. AZZHOLES!
  • December 18, 2023
    GTO55
I don't even know what Nestcam is. But I'm sure there's plenty of live feed connections you can make. Also maybe, just maybe it's high time they come to visit you.
  • December 18, 2023
    Kathy
‌Have you ever heard of Drop Cam? Same thing. It's just cams set up in the house to monitor if your gone, but in this case, he leaves them on all the time and gave me access to the feeds.
  • December 18, 2023
    GTO55
‌No, never heard of that, but it sounds way cool. 😎 A great idea to keep in touch with family, and stay connected with them. (I might have to check into that)
  • December 18, 2023
    Kathy
‌They're discontinuing them and I believe Google is coming out with their own version. Drop Cam and Nest Cam have been around for about a decade now. I don't know about Googles version, but not so sure I would trust theirs.
  • December 18, 2023
    Kathy
‌They're really cool though. You get the app for your phone or computer and you can set them for when you go away to notify you if there's any movement in your home while your gone.

They probably scan it for any illegal activity, and report it to whoever. Hell They probably all do. That seems to be the direction this country is going.

‌That is a cool feature. Sounds like there's a whole tech world out there, that I just don't know anything about. (oh well, maybe someday I'll catch up)
  • December 18, 2023
    Kathy
‌Yep....I have no doubt about it. Just like most of the new tech, they can turn any of your chit on to watch you or listen to you. I ditched my Alexa and shut down the Bixby on my cell.

‌Been around for at least a decade. I would say you're better off staying off the "grid" as much as possible.
  • December 18, 2023
    GTO55
Me personally, I'm pretty much off the grid. The only thing i have is a cell phone, and the only reason i have that is its a company issued phone, and I'm required to have it.

‌If you have any type of Smart tv, they can watch and hear you through those too, if they wanted to.
  • December 18, 2023
    GTO55
‌I do, (TV) I've been warned about that, and Alexa too. I'm not worried about it, we don't really discuss any criminal activity, (as we're not criminals) once in a while I'll say something about wanting to kill somebody, but I don't think they care about that. lol
  • December 18, 2023
    GTO55
Probably smart to do that. I still have Alexa, I'm not to worried about that. All she'll hear is the TV, or me and Ruby (my wife) trying to decide what we're going to have for dinner. 🤪

    ‌She didn't like me calling her names....LOL.

I know she always says "I don't know that one. But she'll play my favorite songs.
  • December 18, 2023
    Kathy
‌Yeah, she's suppose to, but she kept adding songs from similar artists that I didn't like and it got to the point where she wouldn't play the ones I told her to play (my play list), so I started cussing her out...lol. I unplugged her and wrapped the cord around her neck.

    GTO55
‌Ahh, good for you. Ruby uses her for a timer when she's cooking. So Alexa is good for a few things.
  • December 18, 2023
    Kathy
‌I just use the timer on the microwave....but good for you if you found "her" worth keeping.
