Captain Francesco Straullu was a dedicated officer, whose actions were responsible for the arrests of several terrorists. On October 21, 1981, Captain Straullu and Guardia Scelta Ciriaco Di Roma, were assassinated in retaliation. The assassins were members of the Nuclei Armati Rivoluzionari - one of Italy's bloodiest terror groups.
Today, the NAR is dead and gone - but a convicted NAR member, Roberto Fiore, remains active in Italian politics.
