I arm myself with truthWhen someone is armed, people think twice about attacking him or her, period. It has always been this way and it will always be this way. It is self-defense 101. Predators do not target strong people who are ready, willing and able to take them down. Anyone who knows anything about self-defense will tell you this. They target the weak and the vulnerable. It is this way in the animal kingdom and the same holds true in the streets and other places. How many mass shootings have you have heard of in a shooting range or in a police station? Muggers don't loiter around outside of martial arts dojos or gun stores, they want to find people who are easy targets and unprepared to fight back. You'll notice when being attacked by a troll online or some bully hellbent on doing the work for whatever evil agenda needs serving that day that they never have any actual factual information. They rely on slander, ostracizing and misinformation to "persuade" whoever they can to returning to the herd mentality of thinking, typically at the expense of what's best for the children, our society and humanity in general.There is a growing and disturbing trend of anti-intellectual and just overall ignorance in American culture. It’s the dismissal of logic, common sense and humanity and their replacement by entertainment, sedation, ignorance and deliberate gullibility. There is a cult of ignorance in the United States. The rise of idiot America today represents for profit mainly, but also and more cynically, for political advantage in the pursuit of power. There’s a pervasive suspicion of rights, privileges, knowledge and specialization. The very mission of universities has changed. We don’t educate people anymore. We train them to get jobs.Rational thought is now the enemy. Critical thinking is the devil’s tool. The herd mentality has taken over, the anti-intellectuals become the metaphorical equivalent of an angry lynch mob when anyone either challenges one of the mob beliefs or says anything outside the mob’s self-limiting set of values. People accept without questioning, believe without weighing the choices, join the pack because in a culture where convenience rules, real individualism is too hard work. Thinking takes too much time…it gets in the way of trying to fit in.Being mindful and aware of what is really happening is both a blessing and a burden. It is frustrating to know that there is very little that is in my control but there is no way I would surrender to a life of conforming and ignorance, giving into the consumer culture that has been portrayed as the illusion of freedom when really, we are only creating more suffering for ourselves because we all know intuitively that materialism, drugs, alcohol, toxic pharmaceuticals etc…are temporary void fillers that keep us dis-empowered and vulnerable to mind control.I truly do believe no matter how brainwashed a person becomes, the dying process brings about a truth that makes you realize you either lived a life of love, selflessness, integrity and that you passed the test or you lived in fear, selfishness and contributed nothing to help yourself or others and therefore failed the test.
