Answer: Pizzeria Uno is a franchised pizzeria restaurant chain known for its Chicago-style deep-dish pizza. The restaurant first opened in 1943 as The Pizzeria, but changed its name to Pizzeria Uno in 1955. The pizza chain was established by former University of Texas football star Ike Sewell in the River North neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. It was there that Ike served a pizza unlike any that had been served before: a thick deep dish pizza that had a tall edge like a fruit pie. Over the years, several employees of Pizzeria Uno went on to establish some of Chicago's most renowned pizza restaurants.
