The recent release of documents show the level of CIA involvement in the assassination of JFK. My father was in East Berlin from 1960-62. He was assigned to USMLM as Deputy Chief of Mission. He was also Army Intel, having been a member of the OSS and a Soviet military expert. During his time behind the Iron Curtain, he became aware of a plan by East German govt to assassinate Khrushchev. The alleged shooter was a member of the Army Intelligence Corp who was stationed in Germany at the time and had defected earlier. At the same time the US intel community (IC) would try and force JFK out with help from East German govt. The plan was to release info about his ongoing affair with Ellen Rometsch, a KGB agent. JFK had discovered (among other problems with the deep state) that the IC was siphoning off oil from Saudi tankers and selling the oil to the Soviets on the black market. JFK wanted to shut down the deep state and the deep state had to get rid of JFK. Research for my book Assignment Potsdam; Countdown To War found documentation of some of this plot in the CIA reading room. Interviews with surviving members of USMLM and Army G2 filled in some of the blanks..but much is still crypto secret. My book is based on my fathers stories and CIA research.
