42 years ago today, Federal Border Guard Private Josef Arnold and Officer Walter Wehrli were murdered by a neo-Nazi weapons smuggler. Private Josef Arnold was a border guard with the Federal Customs Administration in Switzerland. He was patrolling the banks of the Rhine on Christmas Eve. Also on the Rhine that Christmas Eve was a National Socialist activist. He had a diving suit, an inflatable boat, and a shipment of weapons that he intended to smuggle into Germany for some criminal purpose. The Nazi shot and killed Private Arnold, then hid the body. When Arnold could not be raised by radio, two police officers - Walter Wehrli and Josef Weibel went in search of him. The Nazi opened fire on the officers, injuring Weibel and killing Wehrli, then fled. When cornered, he fired on officers again, injuring Hanspeter Gehriger, then hid and killed himself. #Fashcrime #Endfashcrime #NazisRaus #BlueLivesMatter
