Sounds like a survey, to me. None of my business, is anyone else's!! JS 😉

What exactly is considered "legal gun ownership?" Also, the Supreme Court of the United States has not ever completely and thoroughly affirmed that the second amendment is an actual fundamental right.
I really wish someone would prove or at least try to prove me wrong.

FRANK CASTLE
It is in the second amendment of The Constitution. "Shall not be infringed" JS therein negating any need for further discussion. They just keep chipping away at it, slowly, for that reason.

Let's translate the Second Amendment into modern English, see if that helps. Since the security of a free State depends on every male citizen between the age of 16 and 60 (the militia) being well trained (regulated) in the martial arts (the function of the militia), ... View More

FRANK CASTLE I'm fully aware of the last 4 words and the punctuation mark. But, as you've pointed out the chipping away this makes the argument of being a fundamental right false.

TheAnimal
WaldoJPeabody I completely understand the meaning. Absolutely I do. Here is the problem...the claim that SCOTUS has upheld and affirmed the second amendment being a fundamental right is obviously false. Does the Brady bill ring any bells? What of the waiting periods, background checks all the time..... View More

Gentle Friend TheAnimal Is this a question about the fundamental rights enshrined in the Constitution or of an off times, shall we say, flawed SCOTUS. There is whole "as written" vs "Living Document" argument. SCOTUS only works if those appointed love the Law for the sake of the Law. To many time... View More

Gentle Friend TheAnimal further, one must take into account that the rights and freedoms enshrined in the Constitution and Amendments thereto do not apply to those born or living in the Article 1 territories belonging to the United States. Congress can do whatever it wants. The "Art" is convincing... View More

WaldoJPeabody as many would love for the constitution to be a so called "living breathing" document, sadly they are mistaken. It is not open for interpretation. It is written so it is done. The ONLY way for it to be living and breathing is through the legal process of amending, not circumventing bec... View More

Gentle Friend TheAnimal , we have no argument here, we are in perfect agreement. The problem is with the courts.

TheAnimal
WaldoJPeabody this is and has been my entire argument. What I am interested in is the civil discussion from those who think I am absolutely wrong with my statement on the FACT that the second amendment is not a fundamental right anymore, nor has it been for quite some time.

WaldoJPeabody
Gentle Friend TheAnimal the fact that the Second Amendment enshrines a fundamental right has not changed, Legislative Bodies have done their thing and the Courts have let them get away with it. What is needed is for the Legislative Bodies to go back and rectify this situation. If Texas gets lazy a... View More

If you rely on anyone in Washington D.C. to do the right thing and protect our rights, you haven't been paying attention. "Duck and Cover" should be your mantra, not shout and wave. "They" are closely monitoring this web page, taking notes, making lists and making schedules.......believe it.......... View More
