Long ago, under the dictator Benito Mussolini, there lived an obscure mystic by the name of Julius Evola. While normally a fan of Fascism, Evola managed to get banned by Mussolini briefly: he argued that Mussolini was too soft, and Adolf Hitler was a better role model for the nations of Europe.
After the war, #Evola continued writing - becoming an inspiration to those who felt that the tragedy of WWII was not the lives lost in the war, but rather the fact that Adolf had FAILED. While he was never personally found guilty, his writings formed the key guidance for certain neo-Fascist secret societies. One of them was Ordine Nuovo - "New Order". Unfortunately, where their English namesake made music... Ordine Nuovo made war.
Fifty years ago today, Carabiniere Scelto Donato Poveromo, Brigadiere Antonio Ferraro, and Carabiniere Franco Dongiovanni were killed by one of Ordine Nuovo's bombs.
While Evola and Ordine Nuovo are long dead, Evola's followers can still be found in surprising places.
