Geologist have used Strata, erroneously, to try to date things, BUT regardless of misuse via trying to date things there is still information that can be gathered from studying it. This is just one of several things (scientifically speaking) that doesn't prove what they (Old Earthers) claim they prove, but it's what THESE FOLKS try to insist on using to try to base their beliefs. That's all! Yes, I'm fully aware of studies of Mt. St. Helen's and the way the "STRATA" was laid down and what it proved and disproved. You keep accusing me of beliefs and things that I DO NOT BELIEVE OR ADVOCATE! I was merely sharing HOW to talk to folks that appear to hold the OLD EARTH belief. You can use their own beliefs, as flawed as I believe they are, to disprove their own position, if you understand what they base their beliefs on. However, you appear to be one of those that Beat folks over the head with your Bible and when they whence and back away from the beating, you just chalk it up to them being a heathen instead of questioning the way in which you approached them. I dare say you push more away with your approach, than you bring into the light of Truth. Again, you don't start children off with calculus when trying to teach them math. And let me make this abundantly clear, I neither add to or take away ONE thing, one syllable, one period, from the Bible. Where you got that from my original post, I'm at a lost. Science is neither a 'Friend' nor a Foe, it's merely a body of knowledge and a process of obtaining knowledge. Science is NOT set in stone and as the knowledge base grows, what was once thought as fact can be proven right or wrong, and has many, many times over in man's history. It can't be used to prove nor disprove the Bible, else Faith would not be necessary. Yes, Science has been perverted into a kind of religion, and misused, and many things throughout history have been turned into idols, including some of the translations of the Bible itself. As with the Bible, Science is often twisted and taken out of context to create the position folks want to believe and promote. For example; "Evolution" that you mentioned: Any thinking person should be able to quickly understand that theories like "Evolution" doesn't stand up to close scrutiny, nor does the other suggestions folks have offered as to how man/life got here and a host of other things they try to supplant Biblical teachings with. Just as Science is perverted, look at how many so-called 'Christian' denominations twist what the Bible teaches and instead of relying solely on Biblical doctrine, rely on their leader's doctrine. Some twist and take the Scriptures so FAR out of context, that it's 180° opposite of what the Bible teaches. You're appear to be trying to thump your chest about how pious you are and suggesting I'm not on your level of Biblical understanding, when you don't have a clue about what I believe or know concerning the Bible. Not that I have to prove to you, anything, I do follow a Solo Scriptura approach to the Bible, and have for over a decade now. That said, I know how the Old Earth folks talk and think, and I know what will and won't turn them off. If you turn them off before you are able to get the truth to them, you may as well be preaching to a tree. You appear to be trying to shove your beliefs down mine and other folks throat, even before you know what I or they believe, and quiet frankly, you are trying to dye the blue sky, blue as far as I'm concerned! You have your approach of demanding folks accept your truth, and I have my ways of sharing The Truth, and then it's up to them and Yehovah to work things out.
