Can we (the US) please STOP declaring war on everything? I'm sick of the "War on" anything and everything rhetoric. Usually, when the Resident of the White House declares war on something, we lose, lose badly, and it costs trillion$. Here's a blast from the past: LBJ's War on Poverty Nixon's War on Inflation Bush the Elder's War on Drugs Bush the Younger's War on Terror This rhetoric has its roots in the total mobilization of the United States for World War 2. If the United States were to totally mobilize and go to war on anything, whatever it is would be in deep trouble. However, the analogy is ludicrous. The "enemies" are deeply rooted social problems that are a lot more complex than blowing them up or sending pallets of cash will fix.
