KristineGullikson
Patriot Darrell GillThat was the best. And they wonder why the kids have weight problems now. We used to come home for lunch too. My friend and I were both latch key kids who wore our house keys around our necks and ate super fast so we could use the rest of lunch to play jacks. Oh those were the da... View More

Patriot Darrell Gill
KristineGullikson Home for lunch , yes I remember being introduced to " responsibility "

KristineGullikson
Patriot Darrell GillWe were in 3rd or 4th grade. But think about during the revolutionary war. People were 11 years old and out fighting for their country. I remember being at the Glenn Beck man in the moon program in Salt Lake City Utah years ago and they had clothing from a young Man that served h... View More

Patriot Darrell Gill
KristineGullikson very true ! We're afraid to let them out unless we're with them now . Back in the day everyone new your kids and we new their kids . Everyone looked out for kids and new each others parents !

WaldoJPeabody
Good Morning Gentle Friends Patriot Darrell Gill , KristineGullikson . I wonder how long it has been since a mother told her child "Make sure your home by the time the street lights come on".

Patriot Darrell Gill
WaldoJPeabody My wife and I still say it..

WaldoJPeabody
Patriot Darrell Gill lol, either that or the other one "I don't want to see you till the street lights come on."

KristineGullikson
WaldoJPeabodyI donβt even have street lights in
My neighborhood but oh yes that is my era. The fear wasnβt there. We would ride on our bikes for miles to different cities and not even on a bike path and get this, no helmet! I remember one time a friend of mine who had super long hair got larded, yes... View More

KristineGullikson
Patriot Darrell GillYep and if you were naughty the other parents would correct you, can you believe it? It wasnβt an era of my child can do no wrong.

Patriot Darrell Gill
Nuns that would smack the hell out of ya !

WaldoJPeabody
LOL, Bench from a redwood picnic set and a crib mattress in the back of a Coronet 500.

Patriot Darrell Gill
WaldoJPeabody Man times changed

Patriot Darrell Gill
Riding in the back of a pickup truck

WaldoJPeabody
Patriot Darrell Gill Yep, I doubt ya could get the bench from a redwood picnic set between the front and back seat of anything on the road today.

WaldoJPeabody
Patriot Darrell Gill Actually sitting on the hood of a car.

Patriot Darrell Gill
WaldoJPeabody Used to be able to move grandma in one trunk load with a 68 impala!

Patriot Darrell Gill
Her furniture " it's not a fat joke !

WaldoJPeabody
Patriot Darrell Gill As I remember, one could get 2 24" Schwinn bicycles in the back of an Impala and still close the trunk.

Patriot Darrell Gill
WaldoJPeabody didn't need a truck , hell I went camping in one with my dad mom and 4 cousins

WaldoJPeabody
Patriot Darrell Gill That Coronet 500, if there wasn't enough room in the trunk, it had the power to pull a trailer made from the bed of a 1/2 ton pick up truck. And, the sweetest thing, (without the trailer) you could drive 200 miles and fill the tank back up for $5.00

Patriot Darrell Gill
WaldoJPeabody ya , who cares if they guzzle gas when you can fill up for 5 bucks ? 22 gallons .

WaldoJPeabody
Patriot Darrell Gill lol that's just it, if you kept your foot well behaved, they'd get 15-20 MPG.

Patriot Darrell Gill
WaldoJPeabody Ya don't ya love how bullshit becomes true ?
Cars get the same gas millage today , fuel efficiency my ass !

WaldoJPeabody
Patriot Darrell Gill Well, ok, they're a bit better now, easier to keep in tune. to get 20 MPG you had to be fresh off a tuneup. Points, Plugs, Condenser and timing.

Patriot Darrell Gill
WaldoJPeabody Who wants 4 or 6 cylindars ? I want a big honking
V-8 , and I also miss carburetors!
When you opened one up " you new the gas was going quickly but you'd get there fast .

WaldoJPeabody
Patriot Darrell Gill Oh, yeah, I had an 88 C1500 with the 350, drop to 4th 5 miles from the Texas Boarder, a shift back to 5th at about 100 MPH and be doing 135 by the time ya hit the state line.
And still got 20 mpg if ya kept your foot out of it.

Patriot Darrell Gill
Feel free to share

Patriot Darrell Gill
Nope you would brake the plastic on the car getting it in now

Patriot Darrell Gill
Remember these when you got a flat tire ???

WaldoJPeabody
Yep. Back when there were bumpers on cars.

Patriot Darrell Gill
WaldoJPeabody damn bumpers couldn't take the weight not ....

Patriot Darrell Gill
I miss the useless shit .
Like this damn thing ! Pocket fisherman.

Patriot Darrell Gill
You cast this and it's gonna hit your feet ! Every time .....

WaldoJPeabody
Patriot Darrell Gill Ron Poppell I believe, knew a guy that swore by his. Of course, he wasn't doing any real casting, He'd just pull over when he got off a bridge and work the downstream side a bit. Kept it under his seat.

Patriot Darrell Gill
WaldoJPeabody You absolutely π― % could not cast these damn things ! If you let go of the button above your head you could get to the river bank . Otherwise worthless....

WaldoJPeabody
Patriot Darrell Gill Like I say, he wasn't doing a full cast, more of a flick, Most of what he was fishing 30 foot got ya to the far bank.

Patriot Darrell Gill
WaldoJPeabody I'd have to see that ! I'd put money on it , that they can't cast ! I got mad a one , and it's still in the river I bet ? If someone found it they'd throw it back !!!!

WaldoJPeabody
Patriot Darrell Gill He demonstrated in the Warehouse one time, about half side arm half underhand with a stong flick of the wrist. Of course, I don't think he ever crossed a bridge he didnt wet a line at.

Patriot Darrell Gill
WaldoJPeabody Wel I remember mine ( for a brief minute) being a little different..
It was the first ones that came out though.

WaldoJPeabody
Patriot Darrell Gill Might have been. I'm going to let you have the last work, Thanks for the banter My Brother,, It's been a while.

Patriot Darrell Gill
WaldoJPeabody It's fun to throw things out there like this , once in a while . It's been fun βΊ

Positronictrekkie

Patriot Darrell Gill
Positronictrekkie Did he" like it ?

KristineGullikson
Did anyone have a station wagon with my the fake wood and rear facing seats? My mom had the Dodge Challenger pace car for 1971 I believe it was red with black racing stripes convertible. Got caught driving too fast with the kids in the backseat and the hood down I believe it was well over 100mph and... View More

WaldoJPeabody
KristineGullikson Condemned you to the rearward facing seats, lol

KristineGullikson
WaldoJPeabodyIt was the best!!!

WaldoJPeabody
KristineGullikson Abot the fake wood paneling. Texas Aggie bought one, called a friend over to show it off, friend said it looked terrible. Aggie admitted that it looked better in the box.

Patriot Darrell Gill
WaldoJPeabody Buick Electra wagon , we could get 12 people in that thing. hahaha .

W-P
How did we survive? π

KristineGullikson
W-PI guess God was watching over us.

ROBERTE1
I remember my 70 road runner the trunk was big enough to sneak three people into the drive-in movie .

Patriot Darrell Gill
ROBERTE1 Plymouth and Oldsmobile and Cadillac especially had the biggest trunks . It was crazy the crap you could put in there . It was like a storage unit!!!!!!!
