Just got back to my mountains after 10 days in Florida. It's always problematic to teach when not in my studio, even if it IS an island paradise, but I had to do it, because—get ready for this—a guy I've known casually since childhood, Cody, went there to ask my dad's permission to enter into a courtship with me. He's worked with my dad from time to time in residential construction and, after a few days staying at my parents house, my dad gave his consent. When the news got out that I wanted to give Cody my response in person while he was still there with my dad, a lot of Cody's family and mine stopped what they were doing and made the trip down to the island before I did. After lots of visiting in between my lessons all week, Cody announced his intentions formally at a large feast our mom's put together on Saturday, and I formally accepted. Today Cody will accept a position with an architectural firm about an hour drive from where I live. Thanks for listening... writing it down helps to let it sink in!
