Prosecutors said luxury gifts and money moved through a network connected to powerful people. A religious empire built around obedience, money, and influence suddenly had to answer questions in court. This is where it gets weird. The Unification Church is not just a church. For decades it has been a giant global machine with businesses, political influence, mass weddings, and followers taught to see its leaders as more than ordinary people. Now its leader is facing prison. The church plans to appeal.
